Investing in Community Health with Dr. Yogesh Shah

A conversation with Dr. Yogesh Shah

About this episode

Health equity means assuring that everyone has the possibility to be as healthy as possible. Yet, factors outside of a person’s control, such as discrimination and lack of resources, can prevent them from achieving their best health. Working toward health equity is a way to correct or challenge these factors.

In this episode, I have a great talk with Dr. Yogesh Shah MD, Chief Medical Officer of Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.  Dr. Shah breaks down what health equity means and how Social Determinants of Health play a huge role, how people of color are affected, and what we can do to make sure we are going to where the people are to help them the best.
